High School Equivalency (HSE)
What is the Fairfax HSE Program?
The approved HSE in Virginia is the GED®. The GED® consists of four subject tests including Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. More information on the GED test can be found at www.ged.com
The FCAHS HSE program serves students aged 18 and older residing in Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the City of Falls Church. The HSE pathway offers in-person and virtual classes designed to prepare learners for the official GED test.
Program Requirements
- Learners must be 18 or older.
- Learners must attend a registration event (sign up here) and earn an approved score on an entrance placement test
- Learners must meet FCPS registration requirements.
- Learners must be a resident of Fairfax County, City of Fairfax, or City of Falls Church.
- Non-school aged learners must pay tuition of $80.00 per semester.

- All classes are offered on a semester schedule.
- Daytime and Evening In-Person Classes are offered at:
- Day, Evening, and Saturday Classes,
- Evening Classes, Learning Center
- Evening Classes, Bryant Alternative High School
- Hybrid Virtual Options for Adult Learners (Virtual Learning with In-Person Components)
How do I Sign Up for FCAHS HSE prep classes?
Interested learners can sign up through the sign-up genius or by contacting @email for the link.
Registration events are not a guarantee of admission into the test preparation opportunities. A placement test will be given during the event to determine the best placement learners.
