What Makes FCAHS Special
Education has no age limit at FCAHS!
10 Things That Make FCAHS Special
Flexible Scheduling
FCAHS provides two pathways for learners to meet their high school credential: the diploma pathway and the High School Equivalency pathway. Both pathways offer day and evening classes at multiple sites across Fairfax County. This flexible scheduling is one of our greatest assets in meeting the needs of adult learners who often have other responsibilities outside of school.
EPF Honors for All
All our students have access to advanced, rigorous coursework through the Economics & Personal Finance Honors course.
Senior Mentor Program
Some of our seniors are paired with a staff member to help them stay on track to reach their graduation goals.
Annual Job Fair
FCAHS hosts a job fair for students every year to connect job seeking learners with community employers.
NOVA Partnership
Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) representatives regularly visit FCAHS locations to offer college planning workshops on topics such as advising, paying for college, and opportunities to transfer to four year colleges.
College Field Trips
FCAHS learners have the opportunity to participate in the George Mason University (GMU) Dreamcatchers program with regular field trips to GMU and visits to GMU for the Alcanza College Fair. Alcanza is part of GMU's effort to increase interest and awareness of college among high school students in the DC metropolitan area during Hispanic Heritage month.
Culturally Inclusive Learning Environment
We are committed to providing a learning environment where all students feel safe, supported, and welcome. An example of that commitment includes the extensive opportunities students have to give presentations in their classrooms about their cultures.
Staff Appreciation
Staff are celebrated through appreciation days and award programs throughout the year. During these special events, we come together to recognize and honor our teachers, administrators, and support staff. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment for our staff.
School Partnerships
FCAHS’ team regularly communicates with staff at other FCPS schools, offering onsite information sessions and registration events for students who are interested in hearing more about FCAHS. Staff also attend resource fairs held at traditional schools that highlight FCAHS programming.
School Spirit
Multiple spirit days are held throughout the year, such as the Winter 15 Days of Spirit, and school spirit wear is available for purchase by students and staff. We are proud to be part of the FCAHS community!
